How Facebook Shops Works

How Facebook Shops Works

Facebook Shops is an additional feature that Facebook is currently rolling out to make existing Facebook Page stores more shoppable.

Facebook Shops offers a ‘store’ for your store, so you can make it look more like your own website rather than a page on Facebook. Customers can check out directly with Facebook, as with a Facebook Page Store, rather than being routed to the company website. That said, many are likely to still use Facebook to search, and come to the site to shop. For Instagram, the same functionality is being made available.

How to configure a shop on a Facebook page

Before Facebook stores are available more generally, setting up a Facebook page store is still your best bet. This way, once it is available to you, you can start selling instantly and easily link up with the Facebook Shops feature.

We’ll walk you through the process of setting up a store for Testing Tshirts, our fictitious brand. Again, we assume that you already have a ready-to-go Business Page here. To set this up, you will need to work on a laptop or desktop computer.

Organize goods into collections

You’ll want to arrange them into collections once you’ve added your items, to make it easier for consumers to find what they’re looking for. How you want to do this is up to you – go with whatever feels good for your brand!

We’re going to add these two items to a series of ‘Men’s Tshirts.’ You can see the option to add a list of new items below:

Manage shops on Facebook from an eCommerce platform

We recommend synchronizing this with your Facebook store as soon as possible if you have an e-commerce website. This will allow you to monitor your inventory from one location across both platforms, and to carry over to both stores for any updates, thereby halving your admin time.

We will send you a brief overview of how Facebook stores can be synchronized with two of the most popular e-commerce platforms: Shopify and BigCommerce.

Integrating with Shopify, Facebook Shops

Shopify has advised that you would be the first to gain access to Facebook stores if you are already able to use product tags on Instagram.

Either way, make sure you add Facebook as a Sales Channel to ensure that your store is ready for when it is open to Facebook Shops.

Shopify will then walk you through your Facebook Page Shop and your Shopify site synchronization process.

We walked you through Facebook’s latest feature, Facebook Shops, and showed you how to install it in this post. If you have been made available to Facebook Shops, getting set up with it is as simple as:

Set up an account with the Commerce Manager of Facebook

Developing a Set
Your storefront customization
Your store publishing

In the meantime, you need to set up a Facebook Page shop so that you are quickly able to move to shops. Depending on where you’re based, we have outlined the best way to do that.

The only thing left to do now is to wish you good luck! For small businesses, Facebook Shops is going to be a huge game-changer and we’re so excited to see what you’re making.
