6 Best WordPress Migration Plugins to Move
Need a new host or domain name to move your WordPress site? Migration plugins for WordPress make the task even easier and you can save a lot of time.
You will only import a file or two by using a plugin instead of manually migrating files and databases of your website. Or you can also switch your site with some plugins only by entering the server information on your new host, which is particularly useful on large pages.
In this article, I share six of the best migration plugins for WordPress, most of them free of charge.
One important thing to remember is the size of your site when selecting a WordPress migration plugin. Virtually any plugin works for small sites (~500 MB). Certain plugins are better at transferring vast sites than others, though. I will clarify how I define each plugin and why it is good to move big websites
The Migrate Guru plugin from the same team behind the famous BlogVault backup and the MalCare protection plugin is a free WordPress Migration plug-in.
Most of the other plugins function by converting your website into one or two folders on your new server. That is not what Migrate Guru does. Install the plugin on the website you plan to switch to and insert the current server credentials instead. Migrate Guru has integrated with several common WordPress hosts, but a catch-all FTP feature is also available and will work with any host.
Once MigrateGuru checks the link to your new host, the servers of MigrateGuru will work to move all your site data to your new location. You don’t have to upload any files manually.
You can also browse and replenish Migrate Guru in your servers, which allows you, as part of the migration process, to also modify domain names.
Since there is no manual file uploading, you can prevent challenges with moving huge pages that many people face. Migrate Guru says I’ve never tried such a big website for sites up to 200 GB.
Overall, Migrate Guru is certainly one of the better solutions if you want something that is not crowded by a big platform.

All-in-One WP Migration
All-in-one WP Migration is WordPress’s most common migration plugin, where it’s over 44 million downloads on WordPress.org. You will use this to migrate, clone, archive, and many more.
The plugin functions by allowing you to export a single file from a current WordPress account. You can download your local machine with the file either. The plugin also provides paying integrating systems for other cloud computing sites such as Dropbox, Google Drive, and Amazon S3, etc.
An FTP option allows you to copy the file via FTP to any server, so you can transfer it directly to your destination server:
All you need to do after you have exported your entire site is to make a fresh install and reinstall the plugin at your destination. You should then import the individual file that is your website and transfer it all.
As part of the conversion process, you can also run a find/replace to your account which is useful when transferring domain names.
WordPress.org offers the core all-in-one WP migration free of charge. However, you can only import the file to your local machine by loading it to your new site, using the free version. This strategy is good for smaller sites, but you also have problems attempting to move big sites because
All-in-One WP migration
WordPress.org offers free access to the core All-in-One WP migration. The free edition will only switch websites when you copy the file to your local machine and then transfer it to the new location.
This solution is good for smaller pages, but it also involves problems that attempt to migrate big sites so the transfer will crash.
That’s why one of the premium integrations for big websites presumably you would like to buy. You can export the site to Google Drive, for example, and then import the site directly from Google Drive.
Duplicator
The second most common WordPress migration plugin is WordPress.org after the All-in-One WP migration.
It uses an all-in-one WP Migration solution similarly. You install the plugin on your current site and export it as two files (called “package”), for your entire website. You need to upload these files to your current server and the wizard migrating address the remaining files (your new position does not even require the installation of WordPress).
You should also run a search/replace on your servers as part of the conversion process to help you change domain names.
You can also upload the site to cloud hosting sites or to FTP using Duplicator Pro, which is also helpful to move big sites.

Your Host’s Migration Plugin
There has been recently a movement for prominent WordPress hosts to sell their own migration plugins to make the move to their site easier. When you move to a host that provides a dedicated plugin, the most straightforward process is usually using the dedicated plugin so it is tailored to the host.
Here are some common WordPress hosts which give migration plugins themselves:
- Bluehost – use the Bluehost Site Migrator plugin.
- Cloudways – use the Cloudways WordPress Migrator plugin.
- SiteGround – use the SiteGround Migrator plugin.
- WP Engine – use the WP Engine Automated Migration plugin.
- Flywheel – use the Flywheel Migrations plugin.
- DreamHost – use the DreamHost Automated Migration plugin.
- Liquid Web/Nexcess – use the Migrate To Liquid Web & Nexcess plugin.
- Pantheon – use the Pantheon Migrations plugin.
- Pressable – use the Pressable Automated Migration plugin.
If you move to another host, you might also want to search whether that host has a specific migration plugin like many hosts are now offering.
WP Migrate DB
WP Migrate DB is a special choice in this list since it is not a completely free edition WordPress migration plugin. Rather, the free edition focuses only on transferring one aspect of the web – the database, as the name implies.
The database is, however, the most complex aspect of transferring a WordPress domain, so this is also a valuable method. Actually, you just have to transfer them to a different folder for your website archives. However, since you could run into serialization problems, you can not just copy the folder.
However, by using WP Migrate DB, it solves all those problems so that you can migrate the database on your WordPress site simply by clicking on a mouse.
